Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Frank Libutti for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as commander, U.S. Marine Forces Pacific, commanding general, Fleet Marine Forces Pacific and commander, Marine Corps bases Pacific. Libutti is currently serving as the command general, III Marine Expeditionary Force and commander, Marine Corps bases, Japan.
